Album Reviews: FIERCE JUSTICE – “Fireborn”

FIERCE JUSTICE

“Fireborn”

(Independent)

by Jorge Patacas

“Fireborn” is the title of Fierce Justice’s debut album. Hailing from Oslo, Norway, this five-piece consisting of David Castillo on vocals, Nikola Zastranovic and Vegard Amundsen on guitars, Gustav Rønning on bass and Martin H Herringbotn on drums, presents us with a very interesting mix of heavy, progressive and thrash metal with some hard rock elements as well. The album starts with the spoken word intro “Call to Arms” that sets the atmosphere for what comes next, which are twelve dynamic songs where the band’s great songwriting ability is clearly displayed. The guitar riffs and solos are amazing as well as the thunderous rhythm section and powerful vocals that together create the soundtrack for very strong and thoughtful lyrics about the moment in history that the human race is going through and the essential need to preserve our spirit in the face of adversity. However, one of the key skills the band possesses is their ability to write catchy, almost anthemic choruses that give the tracks an additional emotional touch.
“Fireborn” is a great introduction to the band’s sound and message, and shows the potential they have to achieve several goals in their career.
