LOS MEJORES DISCOS DEL 2006 SEGÚN RISE! METAL E-Zine:
AMON AMARTH – «With Oden On Our Side»
Los suecos Amon Amarth volvieron en el 2006 con su mejor trabajo hasta la fecha. Las espectaculares composiciones y la producción inmejorable hacen que «With Oden On Our Side» sea indudablemente uno de los mejores discos del año. Chequear review del mismo en este número.
SLAYER – «Christ Illusion»
Luego de cinco largos años de espera, los maestros del Thrash, Slayer, volvieron con un nuevo álbum de estudio, esta vez con la formación original. Por más que «Christ Illusion» no va a ser considerado un clásico como «Reign In Blood» o «Seasons In The Abyss», Araya, King, Hanneman y el demoledor Lombardo vuelven a demostrar todo su poder con un excelente trabajo dejando en claro que a pesar de los años están más firmes que nunca. IN FLAMES – «Come Clarity»
Con los dos trabajos anteriores, «Reroute To Remain» (2002) y «Soundtrack To Your Escape» (2004), los suecos In Flames tomaron un camino diferente al ya recorrido, lo cual generó cierto descontento entre algunos fans, y a la vez les sirvió para ganar muchos nuevos, y lograron cosechar mayor éxito. «Come Clarity» continúa mostrando a In Flames en su versión más moderna, pero volviendo a elementos más clásicos como los solos de guitarra, haciendo de éste un trabajo muy variado, con buenas canciones, sin aburrir en ningún momento, demostrando una vez más su gran nivel de talento.
ENTWINE – «Fatal Design»
«Fatal Design» muestra a los fineses Entwine sonando más pesados con respecto a todo lo editado anteriormente, pero manteniendo lo que siempre caracterizó a la banda, melodías pegadizas, letras que hablan de diversos sentimientos del ser humano, saliendo de toda esta combinación un excelente trabajo disfrutable de principio a fín, que lo convierte en uno de los mejores discos de Gothic Metal del año. ALL THAT REMAINS – «The Fall of Ideals»
Luego de su asombroso «This Darkened Heart» del 2004, los norteamericanos All That Remains vuelven a sorprender con una excelente producción que en esencia es el Metalcore tan popular en su país hoy en día, pero lo que los diferencia de los tantos discos del género que salieron durante el 2006, es que aquí también aparecen influencias de otros géneros como el Death, el Black, el Hardcore, y el Thrash, además de las buenas canciones, los excelentes solos de guitarra, y algunas melodías más accesibles, todo esto combinado hace de este «The Fall of Ideals» un álbum imperdible.
LO MEJOR DEL AÑO 2006 SEGÚN LOS LECTORES DE RISE! METAL E-Zine
Los lectores de Rise! tuvieron la oportunidad de expresar sus opiniones acerca de lo mejor del 2006 respondiendo a las cinco preguntas de la encuesta de fin de año que fue realizada durante los meses de Enero y Febrero. Muchas gracias a todos los que votaron!

Notas: Como verán, los lectores se inclinaron a lo clásico y eligieron al nuevo trabajo de Iron Maiden, «A Matter of Life and Death», como mejor disco del año con una gran cantidad de votos. La banda local Radical sorprendió quedándose con el segundo puesto con su «Perfecto Infierno», mientras que «Sacrament» de Lamb of God, «Home» de The Gathering y «Christ Illusion» de Slayer quedaron todos en el tercer puesto con misma cantidad de votos.

Notas: Esta fue la categoría que contó con la menor cantidad de votos, y sorprendieron varias respuestas que asumían no haber visto ningún video del género perteneciente al 2006. De cualquier manera los que sí respondieron en esta categoría se decidieron por «Different World», el más reciente video de Iron Maiden como mejor video del año, seguido de cerca por «The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg», también de la misma banda siendo este el primer corte de difusión del último disco. El tercer puesto se lo llevó el impactante «Eyes of the Insane» de Slayer. Otros votados en la categoría fueron: Killswitch Engage – «My Curse», Black Label Society – «Concrete Jungle», Dragonforce – «Through The Fire And Flames», Lamb of God – «Redneck», Lacuna Coil – «Enjoy The Silence», AFI – «Love Like Winter», Evanescence – «Lithium», All That Remains – «The Air That I Breathe», entre otros.

Notas: En esta categoría el gusto de los lectores estuvo inclinado hacia el Metal Uruguayo, con Ossiriand a la cabeza, seguidos por los Eslabón provenientes de Maldonado, quedando en el tercer puesto con misma cantidad de votos, Guatusi, Hadar, y Chrome Division, el proyecto paralelo de Shagrath (Dimmu Borgir) como única banda internacional en el podio. Otras bandas votadas en esta categoría fueron: Wolfmother, Warbreed, Scar Symmetry, Benedictum, entre otras.

Notas: Sin dudas, el espectáculo que dio Deep Purple en el Velódromo Municipal fue todo un acontecimiento para nuestro país, y esto se vio reflejado en los votos de los lectores, ya que este show arrasó en la categoría ganándose el primer puesto. El segundo puesto se lo llevaron los maestros Slayer con su show en el Estadio Obras de la ciudad de Buenos Aires, Argentina, con una gran cantidad de votos, seguidos por el show que dieron los argentinos Horcas y Lörihen en el local La Estación de nuestra ciudad. Otros votados en la categoría fueron: Rata Blanca en Teatro de Verano (Montevideo, Uruguay), Edguy en El Teatro (Buenos Aires, Argentina), Fear Factory en Estadio Obras (Buenos Aires, Argentina), Deicide en El Teatro (Buenos Aires, Argentina), Dio en Estadio Obras (Buenos Aires, Argentina), Helloween en Estadio Obras (Buenos Aires, Argentina), entre otros.

Notas: ReyToro se llevó los galardones por parte de los lectores en esta categoría, adueñándose del primer puesto su presentación del 1/11 en DOS, donde se grabó su disco en vivo. En el segundo lugar quedó su presentación en el Velódromo Municipal como teloneros de los legendarios Deep Purple, y el tercer lugar también fue ocupado por ReyToro y Crepar en su presentación en La Estación siendo las bandas que representaban a nuestro país en la fecha junto a los argentinos Horcas y Lörihen. Otros shows nacionales votados fueron: Cross y La Chancha en DOS, ReyToro en Pilsen Rock, Crepar en Sala Zitarrosa, La Trampa en Pilsen Rock, entre otros.

Pero con TGCD concibieron un álbum que devoro de principio a fin sin dejar caer una miga.»

Pero lejos de los extensos pasajes hipnóticos a los que COL nos ha acostumbrado, Khoma es una banda que trabaja sobre la clásica estructura de canción, y sin dudas su fuerte son las melodías que nacen de la voz de Jan Jamte. Salvando las diferencias, usaría para este disco los mismos adjetivos que use para describir
